Body camera video from Officer Taylor was shown again on Friday to the Travis County jury. It shows an elevator door in the Spring Condominiums opening and allowing four officers to see DeSilva standing in the hallway with a large kitchen knife in his hand. Defense Attorney Doug O’Connell used a rubber knife in a demonstration with one of the police officers who was in the elevator. p /p

Officer Taylor is charged in the 2019 shooting death of Mauris DeSilva who was having a mental health crisis in July of 2019. On Friday, the prosecution and defense focused their cases on demonstrating the decision-making process of police when confronting a man with a knife. O’Connell: Is it ever viable to use a less lethal option when a subject with a knife is between three and five and a half feet away?Zuniga did not discharge a weapon. On Friday, prosecutors asked him to demonstrate at what point he thinks it would be appropriate to shoot a person holding a knife. Prosecutor Rob Drummond walked toward Zuniga getting within 8 feet of the officer.
