A right-wing, self-described 'patriarchal' pastor in Austin took to the pulpit and preached that women who make false accusations of rape should be publicly executed. Joel Webbon , who is senior pastor of Covenant Bible Church on Austin 's North Side and president and founder of Right Response Ministries , made the remarks in a sermon called ' So The Rest May Stand In Fear ,' which was posted to the online video sharing platform YouTube on Sept. 30.
Latest in Suzanne Simpson case, baby shot by toddler sibling topped this week’s headlines National progressive advocacy organization People For the American Way this month published an article about Webbon's call for public execution and his promotion of 'a far-right Christian theology' that the group said draws from the Old Testament. In an Oct. 17 social media post, Webbon stood by his remarks in a response on X, formerly known as Twitter.
