Jackson had 10 points and eight rebounds in the second half alone, locking down the victory with a pair of free throws with eight seconds left. Fellow post Kelechi Dike poured in 10 points after halftime as well, with Austin rallying from a 10-4 deficit at the break. The teams had eight combined points midway through the second quarter when a jumper by Alannah Nerocker started a 6-0 run for the Hurricanes. Chandler Caver drove for an open layup and Nia Reed finished the first-half scoring.
Jackson sparked Austin in the second half, with Andrea Sturdivant finding Aminah Dixon for the Bulldogs' first lead of the half, 12-11. Dike scored six points during the quarter, the last basket after Sturdivant's steal for a 19-15 lead going into the fourth quarter.
