Get some food or even a tattoo for a good cause
On March 5, many Austin restaurants will donate a percentage of sales to Save the Children, specifically to offer assistance to children and citizens afflicted by violence in Ukraine., which partnered with 23 local restaurants, bars and cafes to raise awareness and garner donations for Ukraine.
Though more venues are likely to join the event before Saturday, the following 23 businesses will participate: Bird Bird Biscuit, Bummer Burrito, Tamale House, One Taco, Share Tea, Fukumoto, Austin Rotisserie, Din Ho Chinese BBQ, Better Half Coffee, Holdout Brewing, Jew Boy Burgers, Garbos, Pedrosos, Fil n Viet, Little Brother Bar, Brooklyn Breakfast Shop, Let’z Geaux Boil, Eldorado Cafe, Ramen512, Paprika, Freewheelin’ Coffee, Le Bleu, and Juliet Italian Kitchen.
Additionally, other businesses not partnered with Austin Food Adventures will offer other fundraising events this weekend. For Austinites looking to soak up the warm weather with a side of biscuits and jam, local sourdough bakers Bread for the People will hold a pop-up “Biscuits Not Bombs” bake sale at L’Oca d’Oro this Saturday from 10am-noon. All sales will be donated to the people of Ukraine.
Saturday and Sunday, La Patisserie will sell Ukrainian-inspired Pampushkys filled with poppyseed filling – an important ingredient in Ukrainian baking. Strawberry macarons topped with poppyseeds will also be sold this weekend. Visit either of the bakery’s North or South Austin location, and funds from any purchase of these two pastries will be donated completely to the people of Ukraine.
Local artists will also take part in fundraising efforts this weekend. Hand-poked tattoo artist Shim Mi, @ohayopokes on Instagram, is holding afor Save Life in UA, an NGO helping Ukrainian armed forces through veteran services, donation collection, and research on military operations. Each entry is $10 via Venmo, and participants can enter as many times as they like until March 6 at 11:59pm.offering aid to the people of Ukraine and find out how to help.
