) - A crowd gathered at Austal USA today for a navy ship’s keel laying ceremony, which will be the last of its kind. Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer was joined by Congressman Jerry Carl and Secretary of the Navy Carlos Del Toro among several others for the ceremony.
She said she was honored to be chosen as the ship’s sponsor. The Honorable Del Toro said the construction of this ship has created more jobs for Mobile and will be an asset to our nation’s security.
