Aurora police shot and injured a man suspected in an attempted homicide at a condo complex near Expo Park on Thursday.
Aurora Police Department’s SWAT team was helping the Denver Police Department’s fugitive unit arrest the man suspected in a May 5 attempted homicide in Denver when an Aurora officer shot the man, Aurora Division Chief Kevin BarnesAurora and Denver officers had tracked the man to 384 South Ironton St. in Aurora when one officer fired his gun at approximately 11:51 a.m., Barnes said.Barnes could not confirm if the man had a gun and did not provide further details about what led to the shooting.
Officers immediately started life-saving measures, and the man was taken to a hospital. He is in stable condition in the intensive care unit, Barnes said. The officer who shot the man was placed on administrative leave. The shooting will be investigated by the 18th Judicial District and the department’s internal affairs unit, Barnes said.
