City and school agree to shuffling in two TIF districts.
The Aurora City Council this week approved an agreement with Batavia Public School District 101 regarding the proposed tax increment financing district at Farnsworth Avenue and Bilter Road. The new TIF district is expected to facilitate the Hollywood Casino resort development planned on Farnsworth Avenue near Interstate 88.
The TIF district is part of the redevelopment agreement the city has with Penn Entertainment to build a casino resort that would include a 225-room hotel, a casino with 1,200 gaming positions and a sports book, a 12,000-square-foot ballroom, a 2,500-square-foot events outdoor courtyard, 4,500 square feet of meeting rooms, a spa and at least six restaurants. Under the redevelopment agreement, the city will give $50 million to the casino, which the casino will pay back.
