Exclusive: augustineposts' WishfulThinking video tells a beautiful and tragic love story
today .
Co-directed by Augustine, Rassmus Bjornson, and David Sahlberg, the clip follows a lovely love story, told through a cinematic, Wes Anderson-esque lens. Shot on the stunning Mediterranean island of Mallorca, the artist tells, ”Shooting this video will be a memory for the rest of my life. It was a wonderful trip with wonderful friends and I hope that the viewer somehow can experience the same warmth we felt while making it.
That warmth is certainly felt through scenes of summery, winding roads, pink sunsets over the water, and moonlit drives -- as well as through the love connection between the two stars. There’s also a bit of darkness, with quick cuts of each person lying alone, motionless. The song itself is uplifting, with soaring synths overlaid by Augstine’s dazzling falsetto, but the lyrics take a dark turn of their own: “In the mountain of your curls trying to get some sleep/ But was there something in those words, are you mad at me?"
