If you had said 20 years ago that vinyl would make a comeback to rival the raising of Lazarus, I wouldn’t have believed you. Today, vinyl is hugely popular despite the high cost of the media and the need to invest in a turntable. The resurgence of the medium has seen new life breathed into the design and manufacture of equipment to play records.
Developed and manufactured in Japan, the AT-ART1000X has been designed to get the maximum analog signal from vinyl. Audio-Technica has focused on getting a more refined direct-power system that delivers improved efficiency and better bass reproduction.Like its predecessor, the AT-ART1000X’s direct-power system positions the dual moving coil directly above the tip of the stylus.
Each non-magnetic core coil is made with 20μm diameter PCOCC wire, hand-wound exactly eight times to create an innovative rectangular shape. The coils are contained in an ultra-thin 25μm special film and placed in the tiny 0.5mm gap of a powerful magnetic circuit. This design enables each coil to generate an output voltage of 0.22mV and a coil impedance of 3.5Ω, despite having a non-magnetic core.
