The senior All-American and National Player of the Year candidate was once again named SEC Player of the Week after leading the team to a 3-0 record last week that ended in Auburn capturing their first Maui Invitational Tournament title. It was the first Maui crown for the Tigers and the third for an SEC team in the tournament’s 40-year run, joining Vanderbilt in 1986 and Kentucky in 1993.
The Tigers forward/center recorded three double-double performances in Auburn’s victories over No. 5 Iowa State , No. 12 North Carolina , and Memphis , with both the North Carolina and Memphis performances in the tournament semi-finals and championship seeing those double-doubles achieved in the first half of play. Broome’s prime performance against Memphis with 21 points, 16 rebounds, 6 assists, 4 blocks, and a steal helped Auburn secure the Maui Invitational title.
