Omar Mabson II, a talented running back from Auburn (Ala.) High School, has committed to play for the Auburn Tigers starting in the 2025 football season. This announcement was made today by Auburn head coach Hugh Freeze. Coach Freeze expressed his enthusiasm for Mabson's addition to the team, highlighting his exceptional character, family values, and understanding of the deep-rooted passion for Auburn football.

He emphasized that Mabson embodies the qualities of a successful Auburn running back, possessing both physical strength and a fierce competitive spirit. Mabson, standing at 5-9 and weighing 210 lbs, earned first-team Class 7A all-state honors last fall. His impressive athletic achievements include setting an Auburn High record with 29 rushing touchdowns during his junior year in 2024. He amassed 1,515 yards on the ground last season, bringing his career rushing totals to 2,798 yards with 46 touchdowns. His versatility extends beyond running, as he has also recorded 21 receptions for 332 yards and three touchdowns. Under the guidance of Coach Keith Etheredge at Auburn High, Mabson played a pivotal role in the team's 2024 regional championship victory. Recognized as the Opelika-Auburn News offensive player of the year as a junior, he was also a second-team all-state selection as a sophomore. Beyond football, Mabson excels academically as an honor roll student and actively participates in baseball and basketball. As the 26th high school member of Auburn's 2025 recruiting class after reclassifying in December, Mabson is poised to make a significant contribution to the Tigers' program. Auburn's spring practice commences on Tuesday, March 25, with A-Day scheduled for Saturday, April 12, at Jordan-Hare Stadium
