Auburn has added Oklahoma transfer Jackson Arnold to its quarterback room after all four scholarship signal callers departed following the 2024 season. Arnold, a former five-star recruit, brings experience as a starter for the Sooners. Auburn head coach Hugh Freeze believes Arnold's skills and potential fit well with the team's system.
It comes after all four scholarship signal callers either transferred or ran out of eligibility following the 2024 season. Auburn added two former Power Four starters to its quarterback room in the portal, highlighted by Oklahoma transfer Jackson Arnold.
“If you go back to his high school days, you don’t get to become the Gatorade Player of the Year without a great skill set,” Freeze said at Senior Bowl practice Wednesday. “And when I see the way he functions with the fundamentals of that position with what we want to do. It’s a pretty natural fit.” His passing numbers were underwhelming, but he operated in a situation where his offensive coordinator was fired midseason and many of Oklahoma’s top wide receivers were injured for most of the year.
Freeze also mentioned that Auburn’s receivers have already noticed a difference with how Arnold throws the ball.
