Auburn football full season report card: Grading the Tigers' 2024 season
After a disastrous finish in conference play, The Tigers finished 5-7 and did not qualify for a bowl game.
“And I know that lessons like we learned this year can help with that because life’s not fair sometimes and it hits you hard, and we’ve had some experiences with that. You can say it’s humbling, frustrating.”When the offense clicked for Auburn, it displayed some of the much talked about preseason hype. But the sour moments were so bad fans weren’t shy to vocally express their feelings with boos across Jordan-Hare Stadium.
After falling short to a milestone that has not been done in 25 years at Auburn, Keandre Lambert-Smith finished with 981 receiving yards and eight touchdowns. Led by the veteran guidance of Jerrin Thompson, Eugene Asante, Austin Keys and Dorian Mausi we saw the emergence of some freshman defenders who played in key roles throughout the year.
Ian Vachon finished the year for the Tigers at place kicker. But with Senior punter Oscar Chapman graduating, it will make for open competition this offseason in both kicking positions.It was not the leap fans wanted to see in his second year and now the Hugh Freeze honeymoon is slowly fading on The Plains.
