Attorneys took jurors back in time, to a bloody crime scene, where a Houston couple were shot to death as they slept, and their teen son accused of their murders.
AJ Armstrong returned to a familiar setting - the courtroom - as his murder retrial got underway. He's accused of killing his parents when he was a teenager six years ago.At the start of A.J. Armstrong's capital murder retrial, prosecutors began their opening statements by bringing jurors into the Armstrong house that deadly day, six years ago, when Dawn and Antonio were found murdered in their bedroom.
"No blood on his clothes anywhere. No gunshot residue on his shirt, on his pants, and no fingerprints," said defense attorney Rick DeToto. "He was - and I take no pleasure in saying this - he was absolutely psychotic. Deeply mentally ill and in a rage. And he was never really investigated," DeToto said.More Videos"I anticipate they will ask you to make the leap that he was in the room when he killed his parents," said one of the prosecutors to jurors.
