A Venice woman’s effort to literally call out pickpockets who prey on the city’s tourists that has gone viral on TikTok and gained her international attention has now created online controversy.on TikTok and Instagram, has drawn fresh scrutiny over whether her politics are also a motivation for her campaign.

Poli’s anti-pickpocket group called Cittadini Non Distratti, “the undistracted citizens”, “wander the city shouting at people whom they believe to be thieves plucking wallets, passports and other items”,Poli, 57, was a Venice city councillor from the League party, formerly Lega Nord, or the Northern League, a far-right party that is known for xenophobic views.

Although Poli said in information later that Cittadini Non Distratti is apolitical, the far-right politics of the League prompted social media observers to question her actions in the clips.the interview with a question to Poli about her politics.
