Police in Lancaster County are investigating an attempted vehicle theft that turned into a chase.Video above: Headlines from News 8An officer responded shortly after 1:30 a.m. Wednesday to Morgan Automotive in the 800 block of Lancaster Road in Penn Township for a report of a vehicle theft in progress.When the officer arrived, a person was seen running from the business, getting into a white Chevrolet Camaro parked along the road and driving away.
There was a short pursuit on Route 72 before the officer ended it for public safety.Surrounding law enforcement agencies and Pennsylvania State Police assisted in searching for the suspect.Police said the resulting investigation revealed evidence that the person who fled – and possibly others – had entered Manheim Auto Auction property and surrounding businesses, presumably to steal cars.
