Attack on Titan's creator confirmed that one of the most powerful and physically imposing giants, the Armored Titan, was directly inspired by WWE superstar BrockLesnar.
The manga series Attack on Titan has blown fans away with not only its intriguing and intricate storyline but also its non-stop action and fighting sequences that were inspired by real-life fighters, so it is no surprise that one of the monstrous giants in the manga is based on WWE’s Brock Lesnar. Reiner Braun aka the Armored Titan bears a striking resemblance to the professional wrestler leading fans to wonder if the Titan’s design was a deliberate tribute or purely coincidental.
The Armored Titan made his manga debut in the Attack on Titan chapter titled “That Day” by Hajime Isayama. The Armored Titan, later revealed to be Reiner Braun, is one of the Nine Titans bestowed upon the people of Earth by a godly force granting them the ability to transform at will into a Titan with their intelligence intact in order to fend off any threat they may face.
Brock Lesnar is an American professional wrestler with WWE and a mixed martial artist who holds the primary heavyweight championships in WWE and Ultimate Fighting Championship among other professional fighting accolades. Lesnar is an accomplished fighter and he looks it, standing at 6’3’’ and weighing nearly three-hundred pounds of honed muscle and imposing bulk.
When developing a character such as the Armored Titan, it makes sense that a fighter of Lesnar’s calibre was used as the blueprint for developing the look and fighting style of the monstrous Titan. Keen-eyed fans initially assumed Brock Lesnar was the inspiration behind the Armored Titan, but after Hajime Isayama’s interview with Gong Kakutogi, which was translated for English-speaking readers, fans now know that one of Attack on Titan’s giants is based on WWE’s Brock Lesnar.
