Atos and Network Rail support Windrush celebrations and initiatives (Sponsored Post)

2nd July 1949: Men relax around the piano in a pub in Stepney, London. Original Publication: Picture Post - 4825 - Is There A British Colour Bar - pub. 1949

The event was initiated by Atos employee Trevor Walters, Board member of the National Windrush Museum and event promoter of company Tharmm Equest. They were disappointed that after giving so much for Britain, and watching their friends and family die on the battlefields they were greeted with racial hostility in Britain. They continue to be disappointed and perturbed that their sons and daughters, still endure racial prejudice and are subjected to institutional racism.

Emma Osborn pointed out that the employment system is based on white privilege and therefore stacked against Windrush British settlers. She insisted that Network Rail had a great opportunity to develop strategies to help and support cultural diversity because people of the Caribbean were the ones who helped to rebuild and develop the company especially in the 1960s and 70s at a time when railway dependency was high.
