The incident happened in the 300 block of Beck Street around 8 a.m. Sunday.
An officer responding to a possible drug overdose in the 300 block of Beck Street around 8 a.m. Sunday was told that an unconscious person drank a mixture of GHB and embalming fluid, commonly known as “scoot,” according to the Atmore Police Department.
Authorities said that during the officer’s interaction with the other people at the scene, he discovered there may possibly be additional narcotics in a camper on the property and contacted Atmore PD narcotics investigators, who obtained a search warrant. Police said the investigators found methamphetamine, numerous other items that have yet to be identified, and drug paraphernalia.
According to police, Leslie Whiting of Atmore was taken into custody and charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and disorderly conduct. After claiming to have overdosed, she was taken to the Atmore Community Hospital where she allegedly became irate and confrontational with hospital staff when she thought law enforcement was not present, police said.Boutwell, Amy Nelson of Daytona Beach, Fla., and Jonathan Schinasi of Lake Butler, Fla.
