12:05 PM on May 19, 2022 CDT An Atlanta-based developer and investor that’s expanding in Texas is planning its biggest industrial project yet near Dallas. Stonemont Financial Group has built more than 1 million square feet of speculative industrial building developments in McKinney and Fort Worth.
Now the developer is eyeing a bigger development south of Dallas in Wilmer. The more than 565,000-square-foot distribution building project is planned on Sunridge Boulevard near Interstate 45. Work on the $39 million project is set to start this summer, according to planning documents filed with the state.which opened a Dallas office in 2021, built two industrial buildings near McKinney’s Airport. And the firm has a series of projects in Fort Worth. The developer recently purchased an industrial building site north of Austin in Georgetown. Stonemont, which has been in business for more than a decade, manages more than $2 billion in assets. The company’s planned building in Wilmer is in the middle of North Texas’ fastest-growing industrial building market. More than 20 million square feet of warehouse and distribution projects are under construction in southern Dallas County.
