Austin Riley underwent an MRI and was diagnosed with a right hand fracture on Monday, knocking the All-Star Atlanta Braves third baseman out for at least the rest of the regular season.
Riley was hit by a pitch in the first inning of Sunday's game against the Los Angeles Angels. He exited the contest and underwent a postgame X-ray, but results were initially inconclusive.
Austin Riley today underwent an MRI that revealed a right hand fracture. He is expected to miss approximately six to eight weeks. In 2022, Riley was named an All-Star for the first time and finished sixth in NL MVP voting. He made a second consecutive All-Star appearance in 2023, finishing seventh in the NL MVP race yet again.
Earlier in 2024, however, Riley missed two full weeks with left intercostal inflammation. Now, he is likely to miss the Braves' final 38 games of the season with a fractured right hand.
