The Heights Tree People celebrated their 1,000th planting Oct. 5 in the southwest corner of the Cleveland Heights High School Stadium and Crawford Field. In the front with the commemorative sign are HTP co-founder Laura Marks and Bill Hoose, caretaker of Spirit Corner in the Coventry neighborhood.CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, Ohio -- Heights Tree People reached a milestone for community and canopy last week with the planting of another sapling -- No. 1,000 since the group’s inception four years ago.
But Caine faced strong opposition from residents along the way who did not want to see the demise of a large Princeton elm that stood in the path of the proposed trolley line. “This new tree will also symbolize a link connecting the history of Cleveland Heights to a future guided by community, love and sustainability,” Moore added.by Bill Hanavan, Marks, Margy Weinberg and Sue Wolpert, Heights Tree People has offered free plantings to anyone with a front yard or tree lawn in need.
Along Nela View Road, the City of Cleveland Heights recently planted 45 tree-lawn trees in an effort to revitalize the street where the Start Right
