El Paso police and the Texas Rangers are investigating after a campus officer fatally shot a man in his 50s Thursday morning at Franklin High School , the El Paso Times reported. Before 6 a.m., El Paso Independent School District Police Department officers responded to an incident outside the high school, according to the newspaper. Officials described the shooting as an isolated incident, and a few cross-country athletes on campus were in lockdown when it occurred.
Shooters clash with security outside Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland training annex Classes were canceled for the day at the high school, and all other district schools remained open, district officials told the El Paso Times. Franklin High School plans to reopen Friday. The El Paso Independent School District is also launching an administrative investigation.
