After a long hiatus, season 2 of the show will premiere on January 9, 2022 on HBO. Zendaya shared the news with a trailer on November 23, writing in all caps: "EUPHORIA SEASON 2. JANUARY 9." The trailer begins with Zendaya's Rue rolling around on a bed, singing and dancing to Frank Sinatra's “Call Me Irresponsible.” The sequence then transitions to the darker tone the show is known for.
“When you're younger, everything feels so permanent, but as you get older, you begin to realize nothing is," Rue says in a voiceover. "And everyone you love can drift away.” Flashes of house parties, birthday parties, joyrides, police chases, and suspicious Jacob Elordi facial expressions abound. We even catch a glimpse of, including one played by Dominic Fike. Plus, Maddy and Cassie get up to plenty of slow motion dancing.
When we left off at the end of season one, Rue appeared to relapse after she and Jules parted ways. Kat had a romantic moment with Ethan set to while Cassie had an abortion. Nate fought with his dad Cal while also questioning his and Maddy's clearly toxic relationship. In short, there's a lot of different directionsZendaya had previously toldthat it was a “difficult” season. “It's a challenging season," Z revealed.
