At Long Last, a 'Scrubs' Reboot Is Officially in Development

The most popular medical sitcom of all time is returning to television. Variety reports that Bill Lawrence is currently developing a reboot of Scrubs for ABC. Due to Lawrence's overall deal with Warner Bros., the artist wouldn't be able to work as a showrunner if the new Scrubs was ordered as a full series. In the meantime, the writer remains heavily committed to breathing new life to the series that entertained audiences over the course of nine seasons.

The title of the series is in reference to surgical scrubs and how the term is used to call low-ranking medical interns. The first seven seasons of the original series were aired on NBC, with the final two installments of the story making their way to audiences through ABC.
