“Dangerous and comfortable” is how Charlotte Knowles and Alexandre Arsenault, the duo behind London-based brand KNWLS, describe their reworked Ugg boot.

London Fashion Week show, which was held at The Mills Fabrica near King’s Cross, the brand offered a fresh take on the instantly-recognisable classic boots, which became synonymous with celebrities in the early Noughties. The KNWLS version boasts a curvaceous heel and a square toe – inspired by the brand’s Hellz boots. “The sharp sole and sinuous lines” make it their own, the pair say.Isidore Montag / Gorunway.
Knowles and Arsenault chose to work with the signature chestnut suede because “it’s the most recognisable part of the brand”, but they manipulated it to show the fuzzy sheepskin lining, seen as stitching on the upper part of the boot. “We liked the idea of working around one of our shapes and seeing if they could be recognisable as an Ugg boot by using the Ugg material,” the designers explain, while there were original Ugg boots included in the show, too, pierced with hoops.
