From CNN's Adrienne VogtTyson said it willat its Waterloo, Iowa, pork plant after nearly 200 coronavirus cases were linked to the plant.
Waterloo Mayor Quentin Hart said while he’s happy the plant — which is the the company’s largest pork plant — is closing temporarily, he’s afraid it may be too late to stop the spread. “At this particular point, we believe that it was too late. So at this point, closing, cleaning, testing people, is the best scenario for it,” Hart said in an interview with CNN’s Poppy Harlow.
“And I understand the impact that this has on our national food chain, but in order to be able to stop the spread, this was the best course of action to support the workers that prepare our food.”, many of whom are minorities and immigrants.
