Missiles hit an apartment building and a resort near Odesa in the very early hours of Friday morning

Rescuers work at a site of a shopping mall hit by a Russian missile strike, as Russia’s attack on Ukraine continues, in Kremenchuk, in Poltava region, Ukraine, on June 27 2022. Picture: REUTERS/ANNA VOITENKORussian missiles hit an apartment building and a resort near Ukraine’s Black Sea port of Odesa on Friday, killing at least 17 people and wounding dozens, Ukrainian authorities said.

Serhiy Bratchuk, spokesperson for the Odesa regional administration, told Ukrainian state television a rescue operation was under way as some people were buried under rubble after part of the building collapsed. “The superiority in fire power of the occupiers is still very much in evidence,” Zelensky said. “They have simply brought in all their reserves to hit us.”

Ukraine’s Western allies have been sending weapons and the government was given another boost with the US saying it would provide a further $800m in weapons and military aid.
