“I spoke to everybody on our board last week and we're all pushing booster shots,” Thomas said. “Some of us are considering [whether] we require that in January for the staff to be boosted.” Looking ahead to 2022, Thomas said she believes that restaurants will need two crucial items to keep running for the long haul. She argues that Congress needs to refill the Restaurant Revitalization Fund that provided emergency funding for businesses impacted by COVID. Not everyone was able to access funding that contained about $28.6 billion of the total $100 billion needed,The parklet was built to handle customers outside of Maggie McGarry's on Grant Avenue in San Francisco.
“The Shared Spaces was super critical for the financial survival [of businesses] and to keep a number of people employed,” Thomas said. “I think the Shared Spaces is an incredible bright light for the city and we really want to work to make sure everybody's safe and ADA compliant, but there were a lot of rules and regulations that got added and were unexpected. I'm glad to see there'll be some legislation put forward that will hopefully be voted on to give more time.
