A KwaZulu-Natal taxi council has approached the High Court to interdict a heavily armed security company from operating at a Pietermaritzburg taxi rank and allegedly extorting money.
A KwaZulu-Natal taxi council approached the court to interdict a heavily-armed security company from operating at a Pietermaritzburg taxi rank and allegedly extorting money from taxi operators daily in the name of"providing security". The SA National Taxi Council's Umgungundlovu region and the Imbali West Taxi Association have approached the KwaZulu-Natal High Court in Pietermaritzburg.
In court papers, the council and the association accused Qomkufa Security of extorting and intimidating taxi owners by forcing them to pay R150 per taxi per day.
