Social-distancing rules and greatly reduced tourism give those who manage to visit the Uffizi Galleries more time to see Renaissance masterpieces
Florence’s Uffizi Galleries, one of the most popular museums in Italy and the world, is best known for its collection of Renaissance masterpieces by such artists as Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo and Sandro Botticelli.
Last year it drew more than 4.5 million visitors. Until the coronavirus pandemic, famous works such as Botticelli’s painting “The Birth of Venus” were normally surrounded by crowds of people jostling to get a peek. But this summer is different.
