The S&P 500 extended its advance for a third session, as bond yields fell amid a widening debate over the outlook for US interest rates. Fed swaps show about a 60 per cent chance the Federal Reserve will stay on hold in December, compared with 60 per cent odds of another hike by then, just a week ago.
On Wednesday, the Bank of Queensland is set to issue earnings. CSL, Commonwealth Bank and Insurance Australia Group all host AGMs. On Wall St at 4pm: Dow +0.4% S&P +0.5% Nasdaq +0.6%In New York late: BHP +1.7% Rio +2.1% Atlassian +1.7%Tesla +1.5% Apple -0.3% Amazon +1% VIX -3.5%The local currency was 0.3 per cent higher; the Bloomberg dollar spot index slipped 0.3 per cent. The yield on the US 10-year note was 15 basis points lower to 4.65 per cent at 4.22pm in New York.
