KNOW BEFORE YOU GO: The parade route and start time were unveiled during a news conference.
The parade will span between 1.7 to 3 miles, double the length compared to last year, according to HPD Police Chief Troy Finner. The parade will begin at Smith Street and Preston Street and will head straight down toward Tuam Street on the west side of downtown.You can find the parade map below:DJs and marching bands such as Texas Southern University’s “Ocean of Soul” band, and the University of Houston will make an appearance at the parade.
Residents who live between the intersection of Smith Street and Preston Street, all the way to Smith Street and Tuam Street are advised to move their vehicles prior to the victory event. Mayor Turner says he’s anticipating millions of people attending the parade with school districts such as Houston ISD canceling classes for Monday.
METRO officials said attendees should plan ahead and give themselves extra time to arrive at their destination. Service delays may occur.Officials have provided the following tips before the parade: Use public transportation such as METRO if commuting to the downtown area, or rideshares such as Green Link.Do not pack/squish one another. Have some space when possible.Wear your sunscreen, if possible.
