In his last start before leaving for the World Baseball Classic, Astros righthander José Urquidy foucsed on his pace and returning to his normal routine Friday.WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — José Urquidy finished his first Grapefruit League stint focused on pace. The pitch clock distracted him during his debut, but Friday’s start against the Atlanta Braves represented a return to his normal routine.
Urquidy required 46 pitches to finish two traffic-filled frames against a prospect-laden Atlanta Braves lineup. He scattered five hits and surrendered three runs. Jeremy Peña’s error on leadoff man Forrest Wall’s routine ground ball did not help Urquidy’s cause. He surrendered consecutive singles afterward, allowing the unearned run to score.
