Astros second baseman Jose Altuve, who had surgery in late March to repair a fractured right thumb, got his full forearm cast removed earlier this week during the final leg of the team’s road trip in Pittsburgh.Astros manager Dusty Baker said the removal of the cast was important to prevent Altuve from losing mobility in his forearm.
Baker had no update Friday on starting pitcher Lance McCullers Jr., who has not pitched yet this season while recovering from a muscle strain in his right arm.
