Correa and Peña are both finalists for the American League Gold Glove at shortstop, Rawlings announced on Thursday afternoon. Astros right fielder Kyle Tucker is also a finalist.

Gold Glove winners will be announced on Nov. 1. Voting is done by managers and coaches in each league and carries 75 percent of the weight. The other 25 percent is comprised by the SABR Defensive Index.Correa claimed both the Gold Glove and Platinum Glove last season, his final in a Houston uniform. Handed the daunting task of replacing him, Peña outpaced his predecessor in almost every defensive metric.

The Astros' rookie shortstop led all American League shortstops with 15 defensive runs saved, according to FanGraphs. Correa was worth just three defensive runs saved, but missed time throughout the season due to various injuries. Peña leads the two other finalists — Correa and Boston’s Xander Bogaerts — in just about every publicly available defensive metric.
