Astros GM Dana Brown 'little less optimistic' about long-term deals for Framber Valdez, Kyle Tucker
Astros general manager Dana Brown said he's become less optimistic about getting lefthander Framber Valdez and outfielder Kyle Tucker inked to long-term contracts.WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — Clarity on potential contract extensions for both Kyle Tucker and Framber Valdez could arrive as early as Thursday afternoon, but Astros general manager Dana Brown acknowledged Wednesday he “felt a little less optimistic” for long-term pacts with either player.
“We’re trying to have conversations and, at some point, the player wants to play,” Brown said Wednesday. “We can still talk. It’s not a deadline. It’s like ‘Hey, I’ll get back to you in the next 24-48 hours and give you an update.’ It’s not that it’s over. It’s just that, for right now, we may decide to wait a little bit.”
