Astros first-round pick Drew Gilbert was carted off the field after suffering a right forearm injury during a game with Class A Fayetteville on Saturday. Playing in just his sixth game for the Woodpeckers, Gilbert collided with the center field wall while running for a fly ball during the sixth inning. Video from those in attendance showed Gilbert with a cast on his right arm. The 21-year-old outfielder is scheduled to undergo further evaluation, according to the Astros.

The Astros selected Gilbert with the 28th overall pick in June’s draft out of Tennessee and paid him a $2.5 million signing bonus. Gilbert started his professional career 10-for-32 in 10 games between the team's Florida Complex League and Class A Fayetteville. Second-round pick Jacob Melton, another outfielder, joined Class A Fayetteville's roster on Saturday and struck a home run for his first professional hit.
