PETALING JAYA: Astro Malaysia Bhd has shut down its Bukit Jalil broadcasting centre for two days, after an employee tested positive for Covid-19.

“The company has activated its business continuity plans to safeguard its operations and to ensure the safety of its employees. Its teams are currently split across different sites with a significant majority working from home,” it said in a statement issued Monday .

According to Astro, the employee who tested positive for Covid-19 works at its Outside Broadcast transportation team at the All Asia Broadcast Centre, Bukit Jalil.“We wish to emphasise that the health and safety of our employees is our biggest priority. We are working to identify those who came in contact with the employee concerned.

“As a precautionary measure, our Bukit Jalil broadcast centre will be closed today for full sanitisation and will reopen on April 8,” said an Astro spokesperson.“This includes an increased frequency and level of cleaning of offices, providing hand sanitisers, encouraging social distancing in cafes and lifts, taking the temperatures of every employee entering our premises, cancelling shows with live audiences, public events and many other measures,” it added.
