Aston Martin has revealed its Le Mans Hypercar (LMH) race car, designed to secure the team's first overall victory at the iconic 24 Hours of Le Mans in over six decades. Based on the Valkyrie road car, this bespoke racer features a unique V12 engine, one of only two naturally-aspirated powerplants in the LMH class. The hybridized 6.5-litre Cosworth engine has been modified for endurance racing, with detuned power and optimized torque delivery. The Valkyrie's bodywork has been redesigned for aerodynamic efficiency and quick repairs, while a pneumatic jack system facilitates rapid tyre changes. The car will compete in the World Endurance Championship (WEC) and the IMSA Sportscar Championship, with a focus on achieving victory at Le Mans.

Aston Martin has revealed the race car with which it will aim for its first overall victory at the fabled 24 Hours of Le Mans in more than 60 years. Based on the Valkyrie road car, it has been developed for the Le Mans Hypercar rulebook that allows entrants to use a higher proportion of bespoke content than the alternative, LMDh. As such, it will be the only car in the top flight of endurance racing to be powered by a V12; all other competitors use either a V8 or a V6.

It is detuned from 1140bhp down to the 680bhp mandated by the rulebook, and Aston Martin has fettled it to produce a more even spread of torque through the rev range. Moreover, the rev limit has been reduced and the air-fuel ratio made leaner, too, to improve efficiency and therefore require less fuel on board between pit stops.
