Here is how Assassin's Creed Mirage is scoring, and how that compares to the whole series.
Given the absolutely massive slate of releases out this year, I was wondering if something like Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed Mirage might get swept away in the current. But a “back to basics” formula is something AC fans have wanted, certainly, and that’s what Mirage presents.
The review embargo has lifted ahead of its release tomorrow and scores are….fine, so far. Not amazing, certainly.. And yes, in 2023, a AAA game scoring a 76-77 is what I would indeed consider “just okay.” But that’s especially true this year with loads of 85-95s. How does it stack up in the grand scheme of the Assassin’s Creed Series? Here’s the list, with the highest scoring platform chosen for each.So yeahhh, not amazing there, being the 10th best Assassin’s Creed entry out of…13 mainline games. Granted, scores don’t matter to Ubisoft as much as sales, and Valhalla, just one slot above it, was the most overall successful Assassin’s Creed game in history.
Overall though, this does feel like something of a miss when Ubisoft does not need its Assassin’s Creed games to be missing. This is supposed to be what everyone wanted, a return to basic stealth, but yeah, didn’t quite go off without a hitch. Scores like these may be fine, but in the larger context of both the AAA landscape and the entire Assassin’s Creed series, not great.
