Priority seating, if the seats are empty can I sit there?: Ask Yadi has the answer
Ask Yadi : Is it OK to sit in priority seating for seniors or the disabled if the seats are empty?Question of the day: On most public transportations, they have some space reserved for those who are older or disabled. Often times, these seats are taken up by families, children, bookbags, luggage etc.
On public buses and trains I have also observed people that have difficulty walking needing to go to the back. I grew up at a time where one always offered up their seat to someone who may need it more than myself. These were regular seats as we knew not to sit in “priority seating” no matter how full the bus was. Is this no longer the way we do things as a society?Sadly, at times we are so involved in our phones, electronics or conversations that we aren’t paying attention to those around us. If seats are open, especially on a full train, bus, waiting room etc.
If the seats are open, or if you happen to be sitting there, just pay attention to your surroundings and offer it to someone in need or automatically get up and move to another seat.
