SINGAPORE - Asian share markets wobbled on Thursday as concerns that tensions over Hong Kong could stymie a U.S.-China trade deal cast a pall over Thanksgiving cheer from unexpectedly positive U.S. economic data.
U.S. President Donald Trump on Wednesday signed into law congressional legislation backing pro-democracy protesters in Hong Kong despite angry objections from Beijing. “In the short term you can’t fight the positive momentum,” said Michael McCarthy, chief markets strategist at brokerage CMC Markets in Sydney.
