After 10 years in Southtown San Antonio, Hot Joy announced in June 2024 that it would move to a new building on Broadway.
Things are heating up on Broadway as Asian fusion spot Hot Joy reopens today in its new digs. The restaurant announced in June that it was planning a move from its longtime Southtown home at 1014 S. Alamo St. to a new location at 1101 Broadway . The downtown building is also home to Pumpers and NOLA Brunch & Beignets.
Amid several inmate deaths, state says Bexar County jail is noncompliant — again 'As much as we'll miss our ramshackle little Southtown spot...we are thrilled to be moving into our new location,' the restaurant wrote. Now the day has finally come, according to Empty Stomach Group owner Chad Carey, who operates Hot Joy and other San Antonio spots including Barbaro and Little Death.
Cool weather is here to stay. Here's how long South Texas temperatures will stay chilly. Carey announced Wednesday on X that Hot Joy would reopen today at 11 a.m. His post also included a photo of the new restaurant, which features fiery red accents throughout. Lanterns hang from the ceiling in the dining room, the focal point of which is a floor-to-ceiling mural of a tiger and dragon baring their teeth. According to Carey, the restaurant will be open every day from '11am to very late.
