Ashtabula City manager Jim Timonere says after 50+ inches of snow, he’s counting on the state of Ohio to step in and help clean up.
ASHTABULA , Ohio - Parts of Northeast Ohio were blasted with mountains of snow, trapping people inside their homes and damaging the roof of school buildings.“The problem is when you have this much snow falling that fast. It’s just incredibly hard,” said Timonere. “Because we are a municipality, we have to cover all the state routes and county routes.”
He said until the city knows for sure that they will receive state funding, they plan to stick to the current plan. According to a city Facebook post, in addition to assistance from Ohio Department of Transportation plows and city workers on shift around the clock, the city also hired three local contractors.“Right now, we are just speculating. But, it’s going to be in the tens of thousands,” said Timonere.
Until the city gets more answers, Timonere asks for patience as they work to get roads back the way they were. “At this point we are going to continue to count on ODOT and ask the state to help us out,” said Timonere.Lake County man accused of driving drunk, killing cyclist faces judge19 First Alert Night/Day: Wednesday night/Thursday for high wind and more snowHow snow plow companies in Northeast Ohio prepare for snow storms
