A recent study by the Human Rights Campaign and PSB Insights found that the phased reopening of many states’ economies has not stopped the LGBTQ community from disproportionately facing employment challenges due to Covid-19

Since states began reopening, LGBTQ people have also been 30% more likely than the general population to lose their jobs, with the bisexual community being hit hardest.

The study also found that while the percentage of LGBTQ people taking unpaid leave has decreased overall since states began reopening , it has increased by 4% for transgender people and 23% for LGBTQ people of color. “Moreover, LGBTQ people who are able to return to work are taking pay cuts in order to do so.
