American has scheduled an average of more than 5,000 daily flights between Dec. 19 and Jan. 1

“They recognized we had an issue; they knew we needed to do something, and as flight attendants we want to make sure our passengers are not put in this position,” Julie Hedrick, president of Association of Professional Flight Attendants, said during a recent interview. APFA represents 24,000 American flight attendants.

“While it’s gratifying see our passengers and crews are getting where they need to be, running a reliable operation when the weather is good is nothing to brag about,” said Dennis Tajer, spokesman for Allied Pilots Association, which represents American’s 14,000 pilots. During ongoing contract talks, pilots are seeking changes in scheduling programs.
