Keni, an artist known for capturing scenes in the San Gabriel Valley, returns to those locations after the devastating Eaton Fire to paint the charred remains of beloved local haunts. He juxtaposes his heartbreaking new works with the originals, finding solace in art as he processes the tragedy and remembers the lost community.
An artist who painted scenes in the San Gabriel Valley community returns to those locations to paint what remained after the Eaton Fire .‘The strength of our community is evident.' Eaton Fire victims remembered at memorial service, much of his favorite town is unrecognizable, and yet, he continues to paint what he sees — the charred remains of so many of his favorite local haunts.
Keni has been going through his old work, finding a spot and returning to paint what it looks like today. He then posts his heartbreakingly works of art side by side with the originals, a difficult dichotomy to accept, but one that is helping him heal. While Keni and his wife stay with their daughter out of town, he calls Altadena “the best little city in the world.”
