Sound engineer Kandon Phillips produces a teen's song during Big Thought’s Creative Solutions, a visual, performing and digital arts intensive summer program for youth in the juvenile justice system.Phillips is spending his summer helping youth in the juvenile justice system record, produce and publish their own music. He’s among artists on-staff at Creative Solutions who teach visual and performing arts to improve teens’ job skills and increase their social and emotional development.

Vincent Coronado, a Creative Solutions’ program manager, remembers a showcase he watched in 2016 as a juvenile probation officer. After it was over, one teen he had referred to the program asked, “Can I come back again?”This impact stuck. That’s why after six years with the Dallas County Juvenile Department, he joined Big Thought in 2019 as an opportunity advisor that helps young people aging out of the program figure out their next steps.
