A man was arrested in Salt Lake City after pouring gasoline onto an occupied tent and setting it on fire.
Officers responded and learned that the suspect, identified as 58-year-old Christopher Betz, poured what was initially thought to be hand sanitizer but was later determined to be gasoline onto the victim’s tent as they were inside it. Officers said Betz began striking the victim with the pole through a burnt portion of the tent. He then emptied the gas can onto the tent and threatened to ignite the gasoline.
